Germany Week 31

Hello Family,

So yeah I´m staying in Erfurt with Sister Mosher we both are staying.   Sorry I forgot to put that part in last week.   So yeah trying to speak just German has not been working …   I think I have been using even more English…   I think Satan is working really hard to make me feel really low because of my German skills, but he will never win so I will just turn a new page and keep trying.   But it’s true I am scared out of my mind to be a trainer or to be the one with the “better“ German skills ha-ha…. other than that one point I think it would be fun to train.

But so this week was Thanksgiving yeah!   So we have this sweet couple in our ward and they are half American so they invited us over to celebrate it with them.   I tried to make Oreo pie, like we have every year but it didn´t work so well, it was yummy but not the same.   But here is the cool part so this week they had a soccer game here and it was against a team that is known for being drunk ( well everyone gets drunk) but this team likes to get into fights and just leave a trail of destruction behind them.   So we were not allowed out on the streets during that time but we got to watch from the window of some of the member’s house.  The largest police squad I have ever seen escorted the fans to the game and back.   It was so cool they had dogs and face shields and lots of cop cars.   Then the best thing was the water cannon tank vans.   So if the crowd got out of control they would just blast them with the water cannons.   I really wanted to see them use one.   But the game was a tie so they didn´t do much because no one lost.   When someone loses that’s when the problems start I guess.

So you can tell Grandma that I got her letter.   And funny story so one of the elders had gone into Frankfurt and picked up the letter and called me.  He was like so Sister Kingery I have a letter for you… and I was like what sweet this is so exciting.   And then he was like it says it’s from a Jordan and I was like oh yeah I´m related to Jordans … and he was like you know my last name is Jordan right…   And I was like yes of course I do Elder Jordan… and he was like we could be related and I was like oh yeah we could.   But it gets better so later at district meeting he gave me the letter and I opened it and what did it have in it a family history chart!!   I was like Elder Jordan we are about to find out that we are related ha-ha but no because it was the Adam line … but any who just thought that was way funny … but tell grandma thanks and I will see what I can do.

So I got my first package the one from Dad ha-ha so funny story with that as well so those hand warmers are amazing!!   Sister Mosher and I had found them about 4 weeks ago and we both got one … and we have been plotting on how we were going to get more and low and behold we got some!   So thanks they are really cool and it’s nice to have more than one.   Now we can have one every day!!   So thanks!!

Okay another cool thing so this week at church in RS the sister giving the lesson challenged us to do something and I want to give each of you the same challenge.  So what you do is give Christ a gift for Christmas and stick it under the tree all wrapped up and then you open it first on Christmas. So all you do is write something down that you want to give Him this year it could be as simple as having better scripture study or if you’re not getting you prayers in to have morning and evening prayers, or write down one thing every day that you are grateful for.   Just do anything that you can do to show Christ that you love Him and then stick it under the tree.  Then do it and open it on Christmas morning.

Well my dear family I must be going, we leave for Friedrichsdorf in just a few short hours for our sisters’ conference!!!   Ha-ha I’m so excited!!!!

I also see going to Friedrichsdorf as the gift that the Lord is giving me for Christmas.  I have or had been pray that I could go back, and even if it is just for one and a half days, it’s an answer to my prayers. Man the lord is so good.

Well I love you all and I´ll talk to you later.

Love you Ashley (Sister Kingery)

Germany Week 30

Oh Family,

Wow this is so cool that Travis is coming to the Alpine German mission!!!!!!   Ah ah we are going to be next door missions.   Wow so cool!!   Man I don’t even know what to say any more.   That tops everything this week!

Well to start out I’m staying in Erfurt for one more transfer, so I´ll be here for Christmas and New Year’s.   But this last week president was telling us that in the next year we will be adding 31 more sisters to our mission and 60-ish elders to our mission.   And he told us that means all of the sisters who are out right now will have to be trainers … most likely we will all be like training at the same time… ish and we will be opening 15 new sister areas in the next year!!   Wow so cool.   Also next week I get to go back to Friedrichsdorf.   We are having a sisters training meeting so it will only be sisters there… so cool and I get to go back to the temple I´m so excited!!

Oh the Lord is so cool I can already see how the work is going to take off and explode with the call for so many young people.   I also think it’s kind of like a last call one last push forward, what more can the Lord do, till he comes again.

Ahhhh so cool

Well I’m sorry but I don’t really have any more to say….. So yeah have a fantastic week and I love you all

PS  Mom you just enjoy all that warmness…. tell Travis to get a warm coat ha-ha he is going to need it!

Germany Week 29

What’s up Family,

Well what to say about this week…. well to start off we went and met with a family and it was pretty good … till they showed me their rabbits (they have roughly 15ish of them) and I made the mistake of asking why they had so many.   Well you probably guessed it.   Yes one or more are named Christmas dinner…. and the little ones are named next year’s dinner.   Poor little guys never stood a chance.   But they are a really great family.   They live way out in country and do everything by hand … it’s a little bit like” Little House on the Prairie” only German style.   I’m pretty sure they could make a TV show and it would go over really well.

So because Christmas is coming up… they want the missionaries in the area to do a group musical number… well after one of the elders heard my beautiful voice … Sister Mosher and I have been assigned to do singing practice for at least 15 minutes every day.   Ha-ha do they really think that’s going to help? I’ve been working on trying to sing for the last 22 years.   Ha-ha so needless to say it should at least be entertaining ha-ha

So mom I think you will enjoy this so the other day we got home and I was in the bathroom and

I hear Sister Mosher yell “ Well Sister Kingery must every light in the house be on. “ Some things may never change.

The work here is starting to pick up woot!   The members are starting to get excited to share the gospel. And as we all know we cannot do missionary work without the help of the members.   We sure can try but we won’t really get anywhere, because the members are the Key.

Well I’m excited to see what’s in my package but there is a good chance I won’t get it for like another 6 weeks unless I get transferred this week because we live so far away from Frankfurt…. being in Erfurt is like getting the ultimate shun treatment.

And no they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here…. unless they are American… did you know that there is something like 92,000 Americans living in Germany…. pretty crazy yeah.

We have not gotten any more snow yet…. I really hope it stays that way the cold is not too bad … but wet and cold is really bad.

But nothing to crazy this week mostly normal stuff.   Well I hope you all have a great week and know that I love you!!!

Germany Week 28

Hi family,

Well this week was a lot better!   I got a blessing this week from one of the elders.   It was pretty amazing because he said a couple of lines word for word that are in my patriarchal blessing.   It is so amazing that we have the fullness of the gospel in our lives and that we can turn to the priesthood whenever we need it.  So Dad, Brian, Travis, and Patrick thank you so much for being worthy men.   I hope you know and understand what being a priesthood holder really means.  You are a blessing to everyone around you.

Well Halloween was not near as fun as in the states seeing as they don’t celebrate it here… but Sister Mosher’s family sent her some sweet mustaches so we got wear them and feel like we kind of got to dress up.   We also put together a sweet game night this week for our ward.   (Activities have not gone well here in the past) but it was really successful and everyone loved it and are already talking about having another game night and all the games they want to bring and play.   So that was pretty sweet.

So this week at district meeting our zone leader shared this with us and I wanted to share it with you all. So it is from C.S. Lewis but imagine if you will that it’s the Savior talking to you okay. “ give me all.   I don’t want so much of your time, so much of your talents and money, and so much of your work:   I want you, all of you.   I have not come to torment or frustrate the natural man, but to kill it.   No half-measure will do.   I don’t want to only prune a branch here and another there;   Rather, I want the whole tree out. Hand it all over to me, the whole outfit, all of your desires all of your wants and wishes and dreams.   Turn them all over to me.   Give yourself to me, and I will make of you a new in my image.   My will shall become your will.   Give me of yourself and in exchange I will give you of myself.   My heart shall become your heart“

That is exactly what I want to do!   That is what I’m working on doing.   I want to hand it all over to him and never look back.   I want my heart to be changed forever.   Because I know that he is the only true way that we can live with our father in heaven once again.

Well family I love you all and hope that you have a great week.

Love Ashley (sister Kingery)
